November Update

What a month it’s been!!

SAGA Convention was WONDERFUL – SEW much fun!! My class with Jeannie Baumeister was incredible. Design show was just unbelievable – my eyes hurt after looking at all that gorgeousness! Market was great – a lot of fun and what a surprise to run into Maris my sewing friend and class partner from a previous sewing school! SAGA Convention is in Indianapolis in 2009 and right down the road in Norfolk in 2010 – a Not To Be Missed event!

First – let me tell you what I did - - - I bought these really cute, really handy little calendars to mail out to all my customers and website visitors. O! What a GREAT idea – then I realized I don’t have your snail mail addresses!!! DUH! So if you’ll take a minute and send me your mailing address I’ll send you one of my cutie little handy calendars! And Never Fear – I never-ever-EVER share any part of my mailing list with ANYBODY for any reason!!!!!!

Halloween is over – that’s always my sign that summer is really gone and the Holidays are coming! I refuse to even start thinking about Thanksgiving or Christmas until Halloween is done. My daughter still wants a nightgown made from the pink Austrian cotton cashmere flannel – I even have the Children’s Corner Adult Bishop pattern to do it – but every time I think about the amount of smocking it takes to go around a Bishop that size I think of several other projects I NEED to make first!!

Roxann from Puyallup is making matching PJ bottoms for the boys in her family out of the cushy red plaid Portuguese flannel!! How CUTE!! And comfy and warm, too! I want to answer everybody who’s been asking about the new Historical Museum book coming from Martha Pullen – YES!! Fine Stitchery will be featuring it and I’ll be sending details out as soon as they are available.

Some new things in the Web Store this month – finally ABIGAIL’S JAMMIES are here as a kit or just the pattern in sizes 3 thru 12.

Another pattern and kit appeared serendipitously when my daughter needed a gift for a friend’s new baby coming in December and there was an abundance of that wonderful pink Austrian flannel in the sewing store – we now have a pretty baby day gown that’s warm as toast and soft as a cloud and quick and easy to stitch up as well – what more could you ask?! Add an equally quick and easy receiving blanket to match and you have a most gracious gift! All done on the serger but can also be stitched on a regular sewing machine in just a little bit more time! The FREE directions for the RECEIVING BLANKET are in the sewing school.

ALSO! New Books – Martha’s pretty-pretty Precious Baby Doll Clothes Book $14.50 with patterns and lots of full color pictures for inspiration and the Shadow Work Embroidery Book $10 with pages of instructions and then pages&pages of incredible designs. Great Prices as always! And still have the great new Sleepware for You!

Also NEW! are the warm and wonderful PASHMINAS – I don’t usually do ready-to-embroider items but my daughters both wanted these so I thought maybe you would, too. These are the Real Deal – genuine Pashmina wool, super-fine, super-soft and super-warm! I have them pictured in Black, Red, Sage – a pretty silvery green-grey. They also come in a pretty bright candy pink and a darker almost-hot-pink that my youngest daughter has already made off with but I can get more! Also Chocolate Brown (no calories!). $26 each.

I want to pass along a plug for my SAGA Palmetto Pleater Pals – every year they do a really great raffle for an American Girl doll complete – and I do mean COMPLETE – with a full, stupendous, handmade wardrobe, trunk, furniture and accessories. Tickets are $2 each or $5 for 3 and here’s the contact info. All of her beautiful clothes and accessories are not up yet. Mia is the doll this year! You can email me for tickets – but make it quick as tickets have to be in by November 15 and the drawing is the first week of December. That’s all for now – I know you’re all busy sewing those Christmas projects and need to get back to ‘em! If there’s anything you’d like to see added to Fine Stitchery please let me know – I’m always working at growing the inventory and bringing you the things you NEED!If ever you want to stop receiving these updates – please just drop me an email.

Yours In Stitches – Barbara O.
